Discovery Call Session

Every project begins with a discovery call, a focused, one-on-one consultation that establishes project goals, scope, and alignment. Whether you are seeking clarity on space planning, direction on design decisions, or a structured approach to how your home functions and feels, this conversation provides the foundation for thoughtful, intentional design guidance.

Beyond aesthetics, I focus on how the space needs to function and support your daily life. Through targeted questions and professional insight, I begin identifying opportunities, constraints, and priorities so you can approach your project with confidence and a clear sense of direction.

This session is not about making immediate design selections. It is about understanding the full picture, how you live, what matters most, and what your home needs to do for you, so any future design work is intentional, efficient, and grounded in experience.

Scope of Work

During the discovery session, we will review the size, complexity, and goals of your project so I can fully understand the support you need and how best to serve you. We will discuss your goals, space, priorities, desired outcomes, and any inspirations you have gathered. By the end of the call, we will clarify the level of design support you are seeking, from targeted consulting to broader design direction, and determine the best path forward based on your needs.

Budget

Every project requires an open and honest discussion about budget. While a finalized number is not always necessary at this stage, a realistic budget range must be established so design recommendations align with expectations. I design within defined parameters and believe transparency around budget is essential to a successful outcome. We will also review your desired timeline and assess what is realistic based on availability and the overall scale of work.

Location Review

We will confirm the location of your project, whether it is a primary residence, vacation home, or other property, so scheduling and planning can be coordinated accordingly. We will also discuss any travel considerations, including beyond the immediate local area.

Guidance Level Assessment

By the end of the call, we will clarify the level of design support you are seeking, from targeted consulting to broader design direction, and determine the best path forward based on your needs and priorities.

This session also includes:

  • A review of any photos, documents, or notes you have to share
  • A preliminary discussion about floorplans or layout concerns
  • Real-time feedback and your inspiration ideas
  • Struggles that you have encountered, or may be anticipating

Retainer Fee

The discovery call is complimentary and serves as an opportunity to establish alignment, clarity, and direction for your project. If you choose to proceed after the discovery call, a non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your place on my calendar and begin foundational design work. The retainer applies toward billable design time, including initial planning, review, and project preparation. After the discovery call, you will receive a follow-up email outlining next steps, design materials requested, and any scheduling details.

After the Discovery Call

Next Steps following the discovery call when moving forward:

  • You will receive a follow-up email from Fine Interiors confirming your next steps, including the retainer invoice and scheduling of your on-site consultation (with you, the builder, and/or contractors if applicable).
  • You will receive a request for relevant project materials, such as job site photos, floor plans, and inspirational images.
  • A tailored Client Questionnaire will be sent to you via email to gather the detailed information needed to guide your design with clarity.
